Wennie du Plessis honours top achievers

On 27 March 2025, Wennie du Plessis Senior Secondary School hosted its annual awards ceremony, a grand occasion held in the school hall to honour outstanding academic and teaching achievements.

The ceremony opened with a procession of teachers, who entered the hall dressed in their graduation gowns, setting a tone of dignity and celebration. Pastor K.G. followed with an uplifting prayer, after which principal, Mr Tjamuaha, delivered a warm and motivating welcome speech. His remarks paved the way for a spirited rendition of the school anthem, sung proudly by all in attendance.

Deputy director Mr Kavari, who was a special guest, delivered an inspiring keynote address, urging learners to embrace hard work, gratitude and perseverance. His message was echoed by the chief guest, Mr Wentenaar, whose encouraging words further energised the audience. The school choir added to the celebratory atmosphere with a beautiful performance.

The school awarded certificates to the top ten students from each grade, recognising those who demonstrated exceptional academic performance. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Best All-Round Student of the Year, a learner who achieved the highest overall average across all subjects.

The hall came alive with applause as parents, teachers, and fellow students celebrated the honourees. The event was praised for its excellent organisation and vibrant atmosphere, with beautiful decorations enhancing the sense of pride and accomplishment. Learners presented themselves with elegance and showed heartfelt appreciation to their parents and educators.

In addition to academic honours, the ceremony featured vibrant performances and poetry recitations by students, showcasing their talents and confidence. Kavari commended the learners for their creativity and bravery on stage.

The 2025 Awards Ceremony was not just a celebration of past achievements, but also a call to action, inspiring learners to continue striving for excellence in the year ahead.
