Cricket series ends abruptly
The Castle Lite triangular 50-overs cricket series ended prematurely due to Oman and the United Arab Emirates teams having to return home because of border closures in reaction to the announcement of the latest Covid-19 variant.

The Castle Lite triangular cricket series was scheduled to run from 26 November to 6 December, but the latest Covid-19 variant dubbed Omicron has triggered global concern and the tournament had to be called off.
The tournament forms part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Two teams, Namibia and Oman, had a chance to play over the weekend.
On Friday, Namibia (228 all out) beat Oman (188 all out) by 40 runs in the first Castle Lite match in the ICC World Cup League Two tournament at Wanderers Sports Field.
JJ Smit, in his first match as Eagles captain standing in for the injured Gerhard Erasmus, won a deserved man of the match award.
Smit scored 56 off 60 runs, before also making vital breakthroughs in both of his bowling spells to finish with 5/26 in 9 overs.
Namibia played Oman again on Saturday. Oman got their revenge, beating Namibia by ten runs.
Oman made a vital breakthrough by removing Namibia captain JJ Smit with the first ball of the 49th over. Smit had scored 94 runs off just 72 balls (five fours, six sixes), but Namibia finished on 282/9 in reply to Oman's 291/9.
The player of the match, Ayaan Khan, was Oman's top scorer with 83 runs off 93 balls (3x4 2x6).
