Omeya Golf Club is proud to welcome back the 2018 Ernie Els for Autism drive.

In 2017 Omeya managed to pull off the fourth highest fundraising event out a total of 18 events of which 17 was played in South Africa. It was the first time ever that an Els for Autism event was played outside SA borders.

Organisers of the 2017 events were so impressed that they decided to kick off the 2018 drive at Namibia's jewel. Today's event will have Nedbank Namibia on board as title sponsor.

Also a word of thanks need to go out to Tiekie and Chantell van den Heever from XL The Travel Professionals and Janette Fourie from Avis Budget Rent a Car for sponsoring the flights and car rental for our two guests from South Africa who will be coordinating the day.

A total of 36 betterball teams will tee off at 12:00 today with a shotgun start. Overall winners gain a spot at the Grand Final to be played at Sun City at the end of October.

• Last Saturday the Omeya Golf Club kicked off round 1 of its two 2018 Dulux Golf Series events.

The day was well supported by members and a huge thank you to series sponsor, Dulux Namibia.

COUNTRY CLUB

The Bank Windhoek Independence Cup will be hosted by Windhoek Golf & Country Club (WGCC) tomorrow and will be played in a betterball stableford format.

The management and golf committees would like to thank Bank Windhoek for once again coming to the party with a great sponsorship of N$18 000 which has attracted a impressive field of 50 players and counting.

The WGCC is looking forward to maintaining its relationships with corporates such as Bank Windhoek.

ORANJEMUND

The prestigious Sperrgebiet Open will be played on 24 and 25 March at the Oranjemund Golf Club, sponsored by Vivo Energy.

The format is 54 holes of medal strokeplay (36 on the Saturday and 18 on Sunday) for the A, B and C Divisions (0 to 24 handicap). Players in the D Division (25 to 36 handicap stableford) will play 18 holes on both days.

No security access will be required. The closing date for entries is on Wednesday 21 March and the entry fee of N$400 per player includes all meals.
