Tura Magic are still thirsty to crush V-Power Angels despite taking an unsalable 3-0 lead into the second leg of the NFA Women Super Cup Semi-Final.

Many clubs would have been satisfied with a 3-0 victory but the expectations for one of the country’s prolific teams are high.

The players did not celebrate much after their resounding win and their coach appeared more frustrated than impressed.

Player of the match Thomalina Adams of Tura Magic said she was happy with the victory but felt they could have done more.

“We did not perform as we expected and what Tura Magic is known for, because we play quick passes and it was not the case for today.

“We are however confident that we are in a position to go all the way to the final because that is what we came here to do.

“In terms of me taking the player of the match, I am also proud of the way I performed as a player,” Adams said.

Adams was on the scoresheet through a penalty for her side while skipper Anna Shikusho also found the back of the net in a convincing performance.

Tura Magic coach Gure Shama refused to get complacent and played down suggestions that they are the favourites to win the title.

“We still have lot work to do because I expect the players to be more lethal and better in position than they were today.

“As for being tournament favourites, I still believe that football is a game full of surprises and we have to wait for the second leg before we reach the final,” Shama said.

Eixas saves the day

In other action, a solid performance by Galz & Goals FC goalkeeper Lydia Eixas was enough to secure them a 1-0 victory over Khomas Nampol FC.

Eixas made numerous saves which ensured that her team take a 1-0 home lead in their second-leg match which will be away to Khomas Nampol FC.

“I am proud of how the team played against a strong Khomas Nampol team.

“I am also very happy with my performance that earned me this Huawei Y 5,” Eixas said.

It was a goal from lethal striker and Galz & Goals top footballer Beverly Ueziua who finished from close range.

Khomas Nampol FC still believe that they are within a chance to come back in the second leg.

A 2-0 victory for them in the second half will be enough to overturn the deficit and book themselves a place in the final.

A draw will be the end of the road in the competition for the women in uniform.

“There is no big problem because we will go back to the drawing board and work harder because we had five players who could not play.

“We still have second leg to go and we still what we can do from there,” Khomas Nampol coach Adelino Baptista said.
