RÖSSMUND

Last Saturday the real golfers of Rössmuns were strutting their stuff in the monthly medal competition sponsored by Novanam. Some very good scores were posted which put some smiles on the fishermen’s faces.

There were two 2-clubs coming from Stephanus Bonifatius (hole no. 17) and M Swarts Jr (no. 7).

The winners were Bertie Saunderson with the overall best nett score of 67; A Division Stephanus Bonifatius 71 nett; B Division Achmet Abrahams 70 nett; C Division Tienie van Rensburg 73 nett.

A big word of thanks as always to the sponsor. Things are hotting up on the Order of Merit with Achmet creeping up on the likes of George and Likius Nande.

• Last Sunday was time for the monthly SAGES competition with weather conditions just perfect, as was reflected in the scores. It was good to have some of the old guys back.

The sponsors were Michael & Berndine Ludeke from Swakopmund Service Station (Engen) who as always pulled out all the stops with lunch and a few cool drinks on offer at the club house.

The results: 1. Tony 39 points; 2. Athol 36 c/o from Achmet & Bertie; 5. Willem 35 points; 6. Mark 34 points. Both nearest to the pin prizes went to Achmet Abrahams.

• Upcoming competitions at Rössmund include tomorrow’s club sponsored event, due to the Coastal Open being played at Walvis Bay Golf Club.

Other dates to remember:

Friday 11 November – Save the Rhino Golf Day, contact person Silvio Suardi.

3-4 December – Rössmund Open, sponsored by Distell.

28-29 December – Desert Classic.
