Dr Amesho Medical Practice is owned by Dr Josephine Amesho, a young and ambitious 29-year-old woman. The practice was established during the Covid-19 global crisis, which severely impacted our country as well. At the time, Dr Amesho had resigned from being a medical officer to pursue a Master’s degree in global health and development at University College London in the United Kingdom. The programme was set to be full-time but due to the pandemic, it was offered online.
“On occasion of not relocating, online studies and the pandemic affecting my country, I became inclined to make a contribution towards the provision of health solutions to challenges facing the country, both in the short- and long-term,” she said. The practice is incorporated as a close cooperation, of which she is the sole member.
Dr Amesho Medical Practice first started operating on 2 August in Windhoek at 61 Independence Avenue, Joseph & Snyman building (opposite the City of Windhoek). When asked what inspired her to open the practice, Dr Amesho said: “When I went to medical school, our country had a scarcity of medical professionals, which in turn affected the quality of health solutions provided to Namibians. Our government prioritised investments of training of health professionals abroad in order to address the challenges facing the health sector, specifically the public sector. My favourite quote of all time: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” by Mahatma Gandhi. I availed myself to the service of the Namibian nation by employing my knowledge in helping to solve health problems and challenges affecting our beloved country’s citizens and residents.
Currently, the practice has three employees and they all bring their various valuable skills to the table. The practice’s primary fulfilment is derived from seeing the client leave with a smile on their face, and the good feedback received thereafter. Secondly, every service rendered enhances their knowledge in providing effective and efficient solutions to their clients in future. Finally, a healthy nation is a productive nation!
The practice offers all services that a general medical practitioner renders to the public, such as Covid-19 tests, medical consultations, family planning, blood tests, acute and chronic disease management and more.
Dr Amesho Medical Practice is a new business, the new kid on the block operating for almost two months, and they have had quite a few achievements so far but they pride themselves in their readiness and willingness to help their clients with utmost care and diligence. The practice is open from 09h00 to 18h00 from Monday to Friday, and 09h00 to 14h00 on Saturdays.
