About 200 young athletes d in the 29th Marathon Sugar Quinton-Steele Botes Athletics Training Camp that started on Tuesday, 4 January 2021 and ended on Friday, 7 January. Organiser Leonie van Rensburg, who has been leading the training camp since 2014, gathered 13 of the finest coaches for this year's camp. The training camp was held at the Wanderers Sports Club in Windhoek. Van Rensburg says she was proud of the turnout of the athletes for the year. The event was also a boost for athletes who compete in school sports, as the beginning of the year is always filled with sport activities. Olympic silver medallist Christine Mboma also graced the event with her presence to give the young athletes motivation.

Among the coaches was leading Namibian coach Henk Botha, who coached Namibian sprinting sensations Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi. Botha said he was proud to see the number of young athletes that turned up for the camp. He said the main reason for the camp was to learn more and to enjoy the journey of becoming a better athlete. Botha, who has been part of the training clinic for years, has been coaching shot put and hurdles but he decided to also assist with sprints this year.

Some of the leading coaches included South African high jump coach Jonathan Greyvenstein, South African long jump coach Charley Strohmenger, and local Namibian coaches like triple jump champion Roger Haitengi, FC Pieterse (hurdles), Jasper Engelbrecht (javelin) and Henk Botha (shot put, discus and sprints).

The training clinic also offered an International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) level 1 coaching course for about 30 aspiring coaches.
