Drought intervention measures for livestock farmers

The agriculture ministry has urged all farmers to submit their claims for interventions of livestock marketing incentives, subsidies for transporting livestock to grazing areas, leasing grazing land, and licks and fodder. This is effective from 1 October to 31 March.

FAO calls for circular model in agrifood systems

Currently, more than 13% of food produced globally is lost in the supply chain after harvest and prior to retail, and a further 17% is wasted in households, in food services and in retail, according to FAO and UN Environment Programme statistics.

Producer registration

All livestock producers must be registered with the Meat Board of Namibia, and producer numbers must be renewed every five years. Application forms are available at strategic locations; however, of late, a free online registration function has been introduced for all new registrations as well as renewals.
