'Project 23' officially launched

'Project 23', a hip-hop compilation album featuring 13 Namibian rappers, was officially launched in Windhoek on Saturday, 19 August.

Executive produced by Andrew Bishop - real name Elifas Andreas - 'Project 23' endeavours to carve a platform for established and upcoming rap artists to showcase their craft collectively.

However, amid the unveiling, the project's potential was tainted with the nuances of a work still in progress.

Despite its promising premise, the fact that some of the songs previewed were yet to be mixed and mastered dimmed the project's overall brilliance. The need for further sonic refinement was apparent, suggesting that a touch of finesse could unlock the true splendour of these compositions.

Nonetheless, the spirit of 'Project 23' remains undaunted. It presents an arena for young rap aspirants to hone their skills and establish their artistic identities. Yet, caution is warranted due to the album's liberal use of explicit language, potentially limiting its mainstream radio prospects.

'Project 23' is set to be made available on streaming platforms on Wednesday, 23 August.
