Amid the shortage of opponents in the heavier weight classes, the youngster has stated his determination to continue developing and to go far in the sport.
Upcoming amateur boxer Pieter Kotze says he hopes to get more fights in the near future in order to advance his career.
The 19-year-old prospect will be in action at the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Independence boxing event slated for 27 April at Ramatex.
Kotze faces Phillipus Shikongo in an 4-round bout at light heavyweight.
Kotze, is confident that he can grow from strength to strength if given more fights.
"I am ready for this big fight and have been preparing well for it.
"I have always wanted action, but finding opponents for fights in my weight class have been rare.
"This fight is an opportunity for me to showcase my talent as part of a very big and exciting card," Kotze said.
The boxer has already been in action eight times, winning six of his amateur fights, while losing twice.
He hopes to become a world heavyweight champion one day and being involved in big fight overseas.
"I know that Namibia does not have many boxers in the heavier weight classes and that makes it difficult for me to grow.
"I will however do my best to fight hard and get to the top," Kotze noted.
The boxer has been fighting under Gino Chiappini as his trainer.
Chiapini has expressed confidence that Kotze has what it takes to become a top boxer.
"He is good and that is why all we need is support, to make sure he grows into the boxer we believe he can be.
"We welcome any sponsors to come on board and to support us financially and any kind of sponsorship to help this boxer grow," Chiapini said.
Kotze's fight will be on the undercard before the main event in which Philipus 'Energy' Nghitumbwa (13 wins, 12 knockouts, two losses) will be fighting Chinese national Dekang Wang (9-0, three knockouts) for the WBO international super bantamweight title at the Ramatex Hall in Windhoek.
General tickets are selling at Webticket for N$50, with VIP access going for N$200 and a table of 10 comprised of box, wine and dine costing N$20 000.
