Namibia is hosting a first-of-its-kind Global African Hydrogen Summit
Die eerste uitgawe van die Global African Hydrogen Summit (GAH2S) wat in Windhoek, Namibië plaasvind, het op 3 September afgeskop en sal op 5 September 2024 eindig.
Die Pre-Summit Meesterklas-sessies wat Dinsdag by Avani Hotel aangebied is, was egter buite perke vir lede van die plaaslike pers, met die organiseerders wat gekies het vir hul eie interne mediaspan om dekking te verskaf. Sprekers by hierdie sessie sluit in dr. Detlof von Oertzen, die Hoof Uitvoerende Beampte van VO Consulting, dr. Susana Moreira, die Uitvoerende Direkteur en Medevoorsitter van H2Global Foundation en Hanna Graul, \'n Navorsingsgenoot van H2 Global Foundation.
Onderwerpe wat deur dr von Oertzen gedek is, het gefokus op Suider-Afrika se vermoë om \'n waterstofprodusent te word. Hy het ook gepraat oor hoe water, energie en voedselsekerheid in die streek by groen ontwikkelings kan baat. Dr. Moreira en Hanna Graul het gepraat oor die gebruik van die H2Global-benadering om die streeksvraag na skoon waterstof en sy afgeleides te bou en uit te brei.
Twee staatshoofde, meer as twintig ministers, sakeleiers, verskeie projekontwikkelaars, beleggers, tegnoloë en eindgebruikers van regoor Afrika en regoor die wêreld vergader by die beraad met die tema “From Ambition to Action: Fueling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution”, om dryf vennootskappe vir, en kritieke beleggings en finansiering in, bankbare groenenergieprojekte van strategiese en nasionale belang regoor Afrika.
Daar word ook verwag dat duisende deelnemers die beraad en die uitstalling wat deel vorm van die geleentheid sal besoek. Die amptelike opening van die beraad vind vandag (Woensdag) by die Safari-konferensiesentrum plaas met Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, die visepresident van Namibië, wat die hoofrede sal lewer.
Die dag sal paneelbesprekings hê met verskeie sprekers, insluitend Tom Alweendo, die Minister van Myne en Energie, Obeth Kandjoze-voorsitter, die Groenwaterstofraad en Direkteur-generaal van die Nasionale Beplanningskommissie, Jerome Namaseb, die Hoof Uitvoerende Beampte van die Daures Green Hydrogen Village , James Mnyupe, die Presidensiële Ekonomiese Adviseur en Programhoof vir die Namibië Groenwaterstofprogram (NGH2P), Marco Raffinetti, die Hoof Uitvoerende Beampte van Hyphen Hydrogen Energy en Rainer Baake, die Duitse Spesiale Gesant na Namibië om maar \'n paar te noem. Die dag sal afgesluit word met die Global African Hydrogen Awards.
Die premier van Burundi Gervais Ndirakobuca sal op die derde dag \'n hoofrede bring met meer sessies oor verskeie onderwerpe oor geleenthede en uitdagings rondom Groen Waterstof.
The inaugural edition of the Global African Hydrogen Summit (GAH2S) taking place in Windhoek, Namibia kicked off on 3 September and will conclude on 5 September 2024.
The Pre-Summit Masterclass sessions hosted at Avani Hotel on Tuesday were however off limits for members of the local press with the organisers opting for their own in-house media team to provide coverage. Speakers at this session included Dr. Detlof von Oertzen, the Chief Executive Officer of VO Consulting, Dr. Susana Moreira, the Executive Director and Co-Chair of H2Global Foundation and Hanna Graul a Research Associate of H2 Global Foundation.
Topics covered by Dr von Oertzen focused on southern Africa’s capability to become a hydrogen producer. He also talked about how water, energy and food security in the region can benefit from green developments. Dr. Moreira and Hanna Graul talked about leveraging the H2Global approach to build and expand regional demand for clean hydrogen and its derivatives.
Two heads of state, more than twenty ministers, business leaders, various project developers, investors, technologists and end users from across Africa and around the globe are convening at the summit themed “From Ambition to Action: Fuelling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution”, to drive partnerships for, and critical investments and financing into, bankable green energy projects of strategic and national importance across Africa.
Thousands of attendees are also expected to visit the summit and the exhibition which forms part of the event. The official opening of the summit will take place today (Wednesday) at the Safari Conference Centre with Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah the Vice President of Namibia delivering the keynote address.
The day will have panel discussions with various speakers including Tom Alweendo, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Obeth Kandjoze Chairman, the Green Hydrogen Council and Director General of the National Planning Commission, Jerome Namaseb, the Chief Executive Officer of the Daures Green Hydrogen Village, James Mnyupe, the Presidential Economic Advisor and Head of Programme for the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P), Marco Raffinetti, the Chief Executive Officer of Hyphen Hydrogen Energy and Rainer Baake, the German Special Envoy to Namibia to mention but a few. The day will conclude with the Global African Hydrogen Awards.
