The agriculture sector is set to host a memorial ceremony in honour of Namibia’s third president, Dr Hage G Geingob, in the Otjozondjupa Region at Rietfontein on 22 February.

“Acknowledging that the president was a farmer himself with a keen interest in these sectors, the ministry will hold a memorial service in his honour at the Rietfontein National Youth Service Training Centre, commencing at 10:00," an invitation from agriculture ministry executive director Ndiyakupi Nghituwamata states.

Among those expected to attend are communal, resettled and commercial farmers, the Namibia Emerging Commercial Farmers’ Union, the Namibia National Farmers’ Union and the Previously Disadvantaged Farmers’ Union (PDFU).

Also to attend are the Communal Land Board, the Land Reform Advisory Commissioners, the Namibia Agriculture Union, the Agricultural Bank of Namibia, the Agro-Marketing Agency, Meat Corporation of Namibia, NamWater, Namibia Agronomic Board and the Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia.
