Suspected suicide at Independence Beach

Police are investigating a suspected suicide after discovering a woman's body at Independence Beach yesterday afternoon. According to Namibian Police Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, witnesses reported that the woman was first seen sitting on a bench, then walking to the shore and later entering a public bathroom.

Upon exiting the bathroom, she collapsed to the ground.

Shapumba said it is suspected that the deceased ingested an unidentified poison, such as Doom.

An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
