Danny Boy takes on Kondja
Action in the ring
An evening of nonstop boxing action awaits at the Swakopmund Casino.
Various boxers will be going toe to toe at the Night of Pain boxing tournament set to take place at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre.
The action will start at 16:30 and according to the organiser, Namibian boxing champion Albinius "Danny Boy" Felesianu, the event will provide young boxers with a stage to compete against each other and, in turn, keep them away from substance abuse. The main fight will be between Danny Boy and the martial arts fighter Uys "Kondja" Landberg.
“We aim to positively inspire and empower youngsters. We have so many kids on the streets who have nothing to do except abuse alcohol and drugs. Therefore we need to come in and assist these boys so that they can do something for themselves to help brighten their future. Boxing is not only about throwing punches in a ring, there is also discipline involved."
Felesianu said that his fight against Landberg won't be an easy affair. "I can promise you that it will definitely be entertaining. I am up for the challenge and will use this occasion to prepare and gauge my fitness for my upcoming WBO International fight."
He urged boxing fans to come and support all the boxers that will be in action and expressed gratitude towards Basil Pasquaille of TDT and PADEZ Promotion, the main sponsor of the event.
More boxing action
Mateus Heita will also be defending his WBA Pan African Super Bantamweight title against Jonas Meteus at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay on 28 May. The event will be hosted by MTC Nestor Sunshine Promotions, spearheaded by Nestor Tobias.
