The 10th Annual Cymot Corporate Angling Weekend will be hosted in October.
The Namibia Shore Angling Association (NSAA), in collaboration with Cymot, will host the 10th Annual Cymot Corporate Angling Weekend on 28 and 29 October in Henties Bay.
The angling weekend will serve as a fundraiser to generate funds for selected NSAA teams to travel and participate internationally.
The NSAA has six Presidents teams that will compete against South Africa during the first week of October, along the coastline of Namibia. "The six selected teams are the Presidents A team, Presidents B team, Masters team (men older than 50), Presidents Veterans team (men older than 40), Development team (all upcoming anglers challenging to achieve their Namibian colors), as well as the Ladies team," explained the chief official (weigh master of the NSAA), Danie du Toit.
Six Namibian teams will also be in action in Jefferies Bay. These are the senior men's team, ladies team, Grandmasters team (men older than 60 years), Masters team (men older than 50 years), under 21 team, as well as the under 16 team. "The main base will be in Henties Bay for this tournament, with bait to be issued at the opening function on Thursday evening. Friday's angling will be along the coastline - with the weighing taking place closeby at Skubbebar in Henties Bay at 16:00. On Saturday, angling will be along the coastline, with the closing of the weigh scales at 16:00 again. The prize giving will take place on Saturday evening," said Du Toit.
The prizes, sponsored by Cymot, will include angling equipment, fishing rods, fishing reels, camping gear, and outdoor equipment, to name a few. Du Toit explained that the prizes are for the top three teams with the highest weight/mass over the two days. "There will only be four anglers per team. The winning teams (first, second and third in each category) will win 12 prizes. Individual prizes will be for the four different edible fish, including cob, galjoen, blacktail, or steenbras. The teams will also be out to brag with very nice looking clothing, seeing as there will also be prizes for the best-dressed team throughout the competition days."
Du Toit highlighted that angling does not receive financial support from the Namibia Sports Council (NSC). "It is for this reason that we have to work hard during the year to generate funds to assist the anglers to lessen the burden on their pockets. The cost of these tournaments is N$12 000 to N$16 000 per angler. Fuel is our main expense at this point."
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the NSAA towards Cymot for their continuous support over the years. "This is their way of thanking all their customers from all over Namibia - from Rundu to Oranjemund - who support their branches. All companies and sports teams from all over are welcome to participate in this event. Teams can consist of men, ladies, and juniors. The entry fee is set at N$4 000 (per four-member team)."

"This is close to the end of the year and we challenge all companies from all over Namibia to enter teams. Use the event for team building, to thank your customers and your suppliers," he said, adding that the Gus Kolhner Tournament will also take place in Henties Bay in the first week of October.
