For the past ten years, Jonno’s Bistro has been a culinary staple in the community, offering a unique blend of Namibian flavours infused with European flair.

Owner Jonathan Gallagher, an experienced chef with an international background, has crafted a menu that caters to all tastes, ensuring that every dish tells a story of passion and dedication.

Learning from the best in the business, Gallagher was driven to take on his own venture thanks to his experience working with locally owned, family-run establishments. “I took the best of what was working and did my own thing,” he said.

His global upbringing, from South Africa to Canada, and his mother’s Italian influence, helped shape Jonno’s diverse offerings.

At Jonno’s Bistro, freshness is paramount. “Everything is made from scratch,” Gallagher emphasised. “We do not use pre-made or processed ingredients.”

From homemade gravies crafted with slow-roasted bones and mirepoix to freshly prepared pastas, every dish is carefully curated. The only exception? The bread. “Bakers do not sleep,” he laughed, admitting he leaves that part to the professionals.

Jonno’s Bistro is known for its extensive menu, which includes a variety of grilled meats, sandwiches and schnitzels. The restaurant also caters to vegetarians, with a standout black bean patty burger. Daily lunch specials featuring fresh and light meals like lemon chicken with homemade tagliatelle, ensure that customers always have something new to enjoy.

Beyond daily dining, Jonno’s Bistro offers an ideal space for private events. “We close at six in the evening, so our venue is perfect for birthdays, corporate gatherings and special celebrations,” Gallagher noted.

Additionally, the restaurant provides off-site catering, bringing their signature flavours directly to customers’ offices or homes.

Gallagher has been a long-time supporter of a local orphanage, continuing a tradition of generosity that started with another local business. “It’s important to support our community, especially the children,” he said.

While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are recommended for larger groups, especially during the busy lunch hours between 12:00 and 14:00. The bistro also offers delivery services for orders of eight or more, making it a convenient option for offices and gatherings.
