Senior water plant operator
Rachel Tutaleni is employed as a senior plant Operator. Her responsibilities as a water care operator include adhering to workplace safety and general housekeeping, performing general plant facility maintenance such as cleaning and washdowns, inspecting and monitoring plant processes by reading online analysers and other instrumentation, collecting and recording liquid and solid samples, performing a variety of routine quality tests such as pH, conductivity, and turbidity, and supervising and delegating fair duties to the plant assistant.

Individuals who have studied or are interested in studying water management (water care) could be employed as treatment plant operators, senior water operators, samplers, water laboratory technicians, water laboratory analysts, and water meter readers.
Tutaleni earned her national vocational certificate (N3) in water management by studying at the Namwater Human Resource Development Centre for a period of three years.
The Namwater vocational centre holds the status of a registered and accredited vocational training institution.
To be eligible for the course, minimum requirements include achieving at least a grade D in physical science and mathematics, an E in English, and a passing grade 10 certificate.
