Coastal soccer giants Eleven Arrows and Blue Waters recorded wins over the visiting Citizens and Civics teams in the Debmarine Namibia Premier Football League matches played at Jan Wilken Stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday.

Citizens came out firing on all cylinders and dictated matters in the beginning of their match against Eleven Arrows. The visitors launched numerous long range efforts, but they came to nothing.

Pineas Willem had a shot at goal blocked by Citizens goalkeeper Vaitavera Tjatindi before Angelo Kuezi found the back of the net (1-0).

Unotjari Hinda had a clear opportunity to level the score for Citizens but directed his attempt into the safe hands of Arrows keeper Denzel Shafetango. The Citizens winger Gamem Esmond caused issues for the Arrows defenders, with some speedy running and pinpoint passes.

However, his striking partners dismally botched the goal-scoring opportunities he created.

Mwala Wuwana missed directed a header and was subsequently red-carded for a dangerous tackle on Willem by referee Samule Ngipandulwa just before half-time.

Quiet second half

No goals were scored in the second half. Arrows failed to capitalise on their one-man advantage, with Citizens dominating play but left frustrated by the host's rock-solid defense.

Arrows had a penalty attempt waved away and a free kick by Antony Kham was blocked by an alert Tjatindi.

Eleven Arrows coach Paulus Shipanga said he was happy with the win.

"We worked hard and came away with three points. It's important to win your home games."

Blue Waters vs Civics

Blue Waters came back from a goal down and secured a 2-1 won over Civics.

Civics had the first opportunity to score but Dantago Kuruseb guided his attempt straight into the hands of goalkeeper Calvin Spiegel. Riubua Kumutuezu broke the deadlock and silenced the home crowd with a goal scored in the 43rd minute for Civics.

When the match resumed after the break, Blue Waters attacked and Erastus Kulula scored the equaliser in the 46th minute. Hendrik Somaeb blasted an opportunity that came his way on the edge of the box, over the crossbar.

Winger Enrico Hoebeb put in a solid performance and created issues for the Civics defense with his crosses.

Blue Waters had an appeal for a penalty denied by referee Fillipus Nghilinganye before substitute Ndahangipanda scored the clincher in the 84th minute.

Civics came close in the dying moments of the match, but were denied by Spiegel.

“Our first goal-scorer Erastus Kulula changed the game for us, but my man of the match is definitely our goalkeeper Calvin Spiegel who kept us in the game with some good saves. This was our second game and the first win at home is a very important one for us,” coach Lucky Shipanga said.
