How excited are you?
The youth plays a vital role in the success of any trade fair or expo. As the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) draws closer, we spoke to the learners of Gabriel Taapopi Secondary School in Ongwediva to find out how excited they are for the return of the fair after a two-year absence.

In my opinion, the trade fair is a great idea for those who want to have fun. As a child, this was an event I truly looked forward to. They always have lots of games and fun activities. It will be quite fascinating to see what it will be like this year after two years of not attending.

The trade fair is an innovative event, and it helps people unwind and relax with family and friends. It is absolutely fun and it creates jobs for people, ranging from cultural performances to everything else in between. I cannot wait to see what this year will have in store for us.

It serves as a great platform for residents, small businesses and big corporations to showcase their products. I am really looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table this year. The town is really in need of something exciting besides our usual events.

I think it is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talent in business and also to make an income. It is also a great place to socialise and have fun with your family and friends. The fair offers a safe place for kids to explore the outside world and interact with different people. I am mostly excited about the food.

The trade fair is a big event that occurs annually, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to let it go. Different entrepreneurs come from all over the country to sell their products such as food, clothes and electronics. I am super excited to attend it this year.

The event attracts a lot of tourists, investors, business people, and many more. This event is very productive because we are also given an opportunity to showcase Namibian culture through food, clothing and music. My favourite part is during the night, when there are always performances and young people can mingle.
Jacobina Uuyini
I love the trade fair because I always meet new people and reconnect with old friends. It also gives local people a chance to showcase their talents and promote their businesses. We get to disconnect from the everyday stress and pressure of school and just unwind.

I am extremely excited to attend this year’s trade fair as I believe the organisers have prepared a great show for us. I am mostly looking forward to the entertainment part of the event and spending time with my friends.
Penehafo Shindinge
This is one of the biggest events in the country, and multi-talented people are coming together under one roof. They share knowledge and ideas in a creative manner, and they also provide fun activities for all age groups. We also get to experience our Namibian heritage.

It is a great initiative that the organisers are bringing back. The Ongwediva trade fair is one of the most loved events, so I am happy it is back. I trust it will be successful with more events to come next year and in other years to come.
