Namibia prepares to host the 2024 edition of the esteemed Alice in Wonderland Fashion Show. Scheduled for Saturday, 3 August at the Wanderers Sports Grounds, this highly anticipated event promises to be a remarkable display of creativity and talent.
In an exclusive interview with NTV’s ‘Smell TThe Coffee’, Juanita Koen, a representative from Figures Model Namibia, shared insights about the academy and the upcoming event.
"Figures Model Namibia is a modelling academy and agency. We work on building models' confidence and etiquette, ensuring their dreams come true. We are here to empower the youth," Koen said, emphasizing the academy's commitment to nurturing young talent.
When asked about the evolution of the modelling industry, Koen noted significant changes. "The modelling industry has transformed over the years. It's not just about catwalk models anymore. We embrace diversity, working with plus-size models, small models, tall models, short models, and photographic models. There is a place for everyone in this industry," she explained, highlighting the inclusive nature of Figures Model Namibia.
The Alice in Wonderland Fashion Show is set to be a multifaceted event. "We are having a graduation for our models who have completed their courses, and a semi-final for the Global Model of the Year competition in South Africa. This is a significant international platform for our models," Koen revealed, underscoring the event's importance for aspiring models.
For those wondering how local talent can reach international stages, Koen affirmed, "Figures Model Namibia is here to provide that opportunity. We are part of an international network, and we train and guide our models to take on global opportunities."
The academy is inclusive of all ages, as Koen stated, "We take in models from the age of 2 to 32. Our classes are designed to build confidence, poise, and etiquette. The biggest benefit of modelling is the boost in self-esteem and the realization of one's worth."
Located in Pionierspark Extension One, Figures Model Namibia offers classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Evening sessions run from 17:30 to 18:30, while Saturday classes are held in the mornings.
