Cluster Science Fair
A total of 24 learners, from 97, qualified for the Erongo Regional Science Fair set to start today in Walvis Bay.
The Walvis Bay Cluster Science Fair saw a total of 97 primary and secondary school learners with their projects compete for a spot to represent their cluster at the Erongo Regional Science Fair. From this, a total of 24 primary school learners and their projects qualified for regionals, as well as five secondary school learners and their projects.
The following learners were selected for the Regional Team:
- Daniela van der Westhuizen (grade 6, Walvis Bay Primary School) with her project "Trash to Treasure"
- Caleb Coetzee (grade 6, Duneside High School) with his project "Threat to Shells"
- Zay-Lee Appollis (grade 5, Walvis Bay Primary School) with her project "Preserving of Roses"
- Jadan van Rooyen (grade 9 learner who entered as an individual) with his project "The Ultimate Battle: Numbers versus Letters"
- Nellian Pieter (grade 5, Prominence Private School) with her project "How Phosphate Mining Affects Our Environment"
- Faith Martin (grade 6, Narraville Primary School) with her project "A Peek into Composting"
- Lucas Amagola (grade 7, Kuisebmond Primary School) with his project "Handwashing Liquid"
- Marne Klazen (grade 6, Walvis Bay Primary School) with her project "What is Ocean Acidification?"
- Le-Jeandre Lewanschek (grade 7, Walvis Bay Primary School) with her project "Hydroponics"
- Carolyn Davis Thomas (grade 7, Alexander’s Private School) with her project "Are Energy Drinks Worth the Hype?"
- Geralien Jacobs (grade 3, Flamingo Primary School) with her project "3D Hologram"
- Kevin Kalipi (grade 7, Seaside Primary School) with his project "Homemade Electrical Water Pump"
- Hailey Cloete (grade 6, Duneside High School) with her project "Food Guidelines"
- John Lestrade (grade 4, Walvis Bay Primary School) with his project "Disease of the Brain: Alzheimer’s Disease"
- Grace Khairabes (grade 4, Prominence Private School) with her project "The Effects of Diet Products on Our Bodies"

- Tylves Kamhanda (grade 10, Tutaleni High School) with his project "Designing a C Water Meter Program to Measure Water Usage"
- Ndahafa Salmon (grade 10, Tutaleni High School) with her project "Comparing the Effectiveness of Ash on Wound Healing"
- Frieda Haimbodi (grade 11, Kuisebmond Secondary School) with her project "The Effectiveness of Garlic and Hand Sanitizers"
The Erongo Regional Science Fair is set to start today and will continue until tomorrow (1 August 2024) at the Narraville Community Hall in Walvis Bay.
