The Erongo Career Fair Roadshow is set to visit the region in order to give students and job seekers a chance to meet with industry leaders and learn about career opportunities.

This four-day event will start on 23 July at the Mondesa Multi-Purpose Centre in Swakopmund and will be open from 08:00 to 16:00. The next stop will be in Walvis Bay at the Town Hall, 24 July, Karibib Private School on 25 July, and on the last day it will be hosted at Luna Park/Lucius Mahoto Training College in Omaruru on July 26.

The event aims to connect education and employment by showing various career paths and educational opportunities to learners and job seekers across the region. It will focus on important industries like mining, maritime, and technology.

Yvonne Tjerivanga, Regional School Counsellor, Erongo Regional Council, Directorate of Education says that the roadshow started last year, making this year its second year.

“The previous years since the inception of the career fair (2017), it has been an annual event held in Swakopmund for all the Grade 11 and 12 learners from government schools within the Erongo Region.”

Tjerivanga further added that the purpose for the career fair is to provide learners with exposure to different options, industries and educational pathways available them. “Learners will get a chance to discover new fields they may be interested in pursuing. They get to engage with future potential employers and get career guidance.”

“This will help them make informed career choices”, Tjerivanga added.

Additionally, she highlighted that the goal is to reach as many learners including those at schools located in the remote areas of the Region, “therefore increasing coverage to the provision of career guidance of learners. The Ministry values the importance of career guidance in inspiring learners to set up realistic career goals."
