#JustIn: Tamson denies participation

Rita Kakelo
Tamson Haituikulipi, one of the suspects implicated in Namibia's biggest fishing corruption scandal, made his third bail attempt today in court, asserting that he had no participation in the 'plundering' of resources for self-enrichment, as dubbed by Magistrate Duard Kesslau, who denied his first bail application. "I was never part of it. My business with Samherji was strictly legitimate and fell within Namibian law," he stated.

He further assured that his entry into the fishing industry was backed by binding and legal agreements, emphasising that his role was standard business practice. "The only plundering of resources that can occur is through fishing quotas, which are allocated by the ministry of fisheries and not by me."
