Bridal couple of the year rules

The bridal couple (1 March 2020 and 30 April 2022) has until Friday 29 July 2022 at noon to enter the Republikein Bridal Couple of the Year Competition. No late entries will be accepted.

Couples wishing to enter, have to complete the entry form. Participants must also acquaint themselves with the rules and undertake to abide by them.

The 30 semi-finalists will be announced in Republikein’s Kollig supplement on Friday 12 August 2022 after which SMS voting lines open. The 12 finalists will be announced in the Kollig of 16 September 2022.

RULES

1. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

2. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3. Two postcard-size colour photos of the bridal couple – one full length and one head & shoulders – must be submitted together with the entry form. Please make sure your entry is no bigger than 15MB.

4. Photos remain the property of Republikein.

5. Entrants must be Namibian citizens, residents or permanent residents. Only parties married under laws recognised by the Government of Namibia are allowed to enter.

6. The finalists must be in Windhoek for the final event and winners must collect their prizes personally, within three months after the announcement.

7. Finalists are responsible for travel and accommodation expenses to participate in the final taking place at the Namibia Tourism Expo in Windhoek on Saturday 5 November 2022.

8. Finalist couples must be willing to appear in their bridal attire for the final event.

9. Both parties of the Bridal Couple must attend the final event.

10. To be considered for the Bridal Couple of the Year, participants must still be married at the time of the final event.

11. Participants must be willing to appear in Republikein for promotional purposes. Please note that not all entries can be published due to space constraints. However, all entries will be published on the newspaper’s Facebook page.

12. Staff members of Namibia Media Holdings and its subsidiaries as well as their immediate family, and sponsors may not participate in this competition.

13. The Bridal Couple must complete the entry form in full and write a few words about themselves, how they met, their wedding day as well as their plans for the future.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Because of the high volume of entries, the first round of judging takes place based on your photographs and your letter. To better your chances of going through to the next round, make sure your photographs and entry letter are of a high quality. Once the 30 semi-finalists are chosen, the public can start voting for their favourite couple via SMS. The 12 couples with the most votes become finalists. The judging panel consists of professionals involved in the photographic, beauty, hairdressing, events, and clothing/design industries.
