Renowned Namibian saxophonist Susy Eises is set to take the stage at the 14th Annual Jazz on the Rocks Festival this Saturday, 1 March, marking her first international performance of 2025.

The festival, a staple in South Africa’s jazz scene, will be held from 27 February to 2 March in the picturesque Tieties Bay, two hours from Cape Town.

Jazz on the Rocks is celebrated for its immersive coastal setting, where festivalgoers enjoy world-class jazz performances against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. Over the years, it has become a major cultural event, attracting top-tier musicians and audiences eager to experience an eclectic mix of jazz styles. This year’s edition is poised to maintain that legacy, and Eises is thrilled to be part of it.

“This is a new audience for me, and I look forward to representing Namibia on such a grand stage,” Eises said. “I will perform original songs that showcase who I am and where I come from, as well as a few jazz covers to ensure the audience connects with familiar melodies.”

Eises shared that the invitation to perform at Jazz on the Rocks comes through a collaboration between South African radio personality and entrepreneur Clarence Ford of Camissa Solutions in Cape Town and Desmond Frankfurt of Walvis Bay. Eises has also been lined up for two additional jazz festivals later in the year, including one in Walvis Bay in March.

Her participation in the festival underscores her growing influence in the jazz world, both in Namibia and beyond. With a signature blend of contemporary jazz and African influences, Eises has captivated audiences with her soulful saxophone melodies and has become a key figure in Namibia’s modern jazz landscape.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to perform at Jazz on the Rocks, a festival that welcomes thousands of music lovers each year,” she said. “It’s an honor to share my music with a new audience and to bring a piece of Namibia to South Africa.”
