Neuras Wines, one of Namibia’s most distinguished wineries, was thrilled to announce its Double Gold victory at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2024 for its signature Neuras Ruby Dessert Wine. This exceptional recognition highlights the winery’s commitment to producing world-class wines that reflect the unique character of Namibia’s desert landscape.

The Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2024, one of the most esteemed wine competitions in the southern hemisphere, is judged by an international panel of wine experts. Competing against thousands of entries from across the globe, Neuras Wines has proven that Namibia is a rising star on the global wine stage.

“We are honoured to receive this Double Gold award,” said managing director Dr Rudie van Vuuren.

“Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate comes a very long way, and we are proud to share this achievement with you. This award is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of not only our incredible award-winning winemaker, Braam Gericke, but also our entire Neuras team. This demonstrates that our exclusive wines are of outstanding quality and worthy of being exported and enjoyed worldwide.”

The Neuras Ruby Dessert Wine is renowned for its rich complexity, creating the perfect blend with an elegant, velvety finish. Crafted from the vines of Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate, where conservation and winemaking go hand in hand, this wine reflects the harmonious integration of nature and craftsmanship.

“Working in Namibia in a desert vineyard in the far south of Namibia made me fall in love with wine all over again,” said Gericke. “Making wine in the desert has its challenges, but that is exactly what keeps me motivated to produce the best Namibian wine.”

Conservation efforts

Neuras Wines is not only celebrated for its wines but also for its conservation efforts. Bordering the Naukluft Park in the Namib Desert, only 80 km from Sossusvlei, Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate contributes directly to the N/a’an ku sê Foundation by supporting wildlife, environmental conservation and social uplifting initiatives. Each bottle sold aids in the protection of Namibia’s landscapes, protecting its wildlife and improving lives, making every sip a step towards a sustainable future.

Their vision is to be changemakers for sustainable good in Africa. "We inspire positive transformation and social upliftment. Our transparent and inclusive approach ensures that our innovative and responsible commercial activities benefit generations to come."

The Collectors Edition Neuras Wines are an exquisite tribute to their mission. This exclusive Harmony of Purpose collection features three exceptional wines: Namib Select, Directors Reserve and Shiraz, each reflecting the beauty and resilience of Namibia.

“By supporting our wines,” said Gerhard Fourie, sales and marketing director, “you contribute to our purpose of conserving Namibia's landscapes, protecting its wildlife, and supporting the people we work with through innovative sustainable commercial activities.”

He said the award underscores the potential of Namibian wines on a global scale and places Neuras Wines among the elite of international winemakers.

"As Namibia continues to emerge as a premier wine destination, this award brings pride and recognition to the country’s thriving wine industry.

"This achievement highlights the superior calibre of our exclusive wines, making them ideal for international export and appreciation around the globe," said Fourie.

Established in the heart of Namibia’s arid landscape, Neuras Wines is dedicated to producing distinctive, high-quality wines that embody the spirit of the desert. The estate is also a hub for conservation, where winemaking and environmental preservation work side by side to create a unique experience for wine lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. Offering luxury to rustic accommodation and unique activities, Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate is a “must add to your bucket list” destination.
