Hosea 10:13: Maar jy het goddeloosheid geplant, jy het kwaad gemaai, jy het die vrug van bedrog geëet. Omdat jy op jou eie krag en op jou baie krygers staatgemaak het.

Wanneer jy saad plant, verwag jy dat die plante sal groei. Onkruid kan tussen hulle groei. Wanneer ons die onkruid uittrek, moet ons versigtig wees en nie regte plante uittrek nie.

Aanvanklik is Israel beskou as een wat groter verantwoordelikhede kon dra. Saai het deel geword van haar taak as volk van die Here. Hierdie saaiwerk moes egter met sy wil ooreenstem. Om God se wil te soek, sou tot die seën van sy liefde en goedheid lei. Tog het hulle gekies om te doen wat hulle wou en het sonde gepleeg. Die Here wys op twee groot foute: om ander gode te aanbid en op die krag van ander nasies te vertrou. Hulle sal ly as gevolg van hul besluite.

Paulus waarsku dat mense wat op hulle sondige natuur saai, vernietiging in die gesig staar. Hulle wat deur die Gees gelei word, sal die ewige lewe verkry (Gal. 6:7-8). Om God se wil te volg laat ons deel in sy liefde en goedheid, maar om God te verwerp lei tot vernietiging.

Doen vandag God se wil. Mense wat wat volgens God se wil lewe, kan op sy liefde en goedheid staatmaak.

Here, ek bid dat ek nie sal afdwaal van die doel waarvoor U my geroep het nie, in Jesus se Naam, Amen.
