Drug Abuse Among Our Youth

MARTHA NAMHADI, FOUNDER OF FIGHTING AGAINST DRUGS IN THE COMMUNITIES, WRITES:

As we review the various political party manifestos, it is evident that many parties are eager to transform the lives of young people by creating job opportunities and addressing the numerous challenges they face in our beloved land of the brave.

As the founder of a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting against drug abuse, I would like to shed light on the biggest challenge, often overlooked, that is devastating the youth of our country: drug addiction.

While political parties are busy campaigning and making promises to empower our youth, I urge them to also develop viable solutions to help young people overcome drug addiction. Across our nation, many youth are battling this issue, yet there are insufficient rehabilitation facilities for underprivileged youth.

It is crucial for our political leaders to understand that without addressing drug abuse, all the positive promises they make regarding youth empowerment will ultimately be in vain. Presently, several nonprofit organizations are actively combating drug abuse among the youth, but their efforts are often overlooked, possibly due to a lack of political affiliation.

I genuinely hope to see political parties include concrete plans in their manifestos for combating drug use among our youth. Ignoring this critical issue will only hinder the progress we are striving to achieve for future generations.
