Even emergencies are not always emergencies here
ANONYMOUS WRITES:
Firstly, I want start off thanking EMA they were quick, honest and so helpful even with me, even if my husband was the patient. Due to us not having medical and being broke we were sent to Katatura, this was around 13:00 pm. We left Tura after my husband discharged himself around 18:00.
Why?
Rude nurses and doctors who don’t tell you anything. Service was non-existent. People were sitting in the row for X-rays since that morning. They look at your papers throw it on your bed and walk away. If you asked to be discharged because you aren’t being helped, the papers get thrown on your chest and hands get thrown in the air. I get they are busy and overworked, but joh they got so angry the IV ripped out of my husband’s arm.
I’m grateful for a place that help, but seriously being rude to patients when they are stressed and exhausted is also not fair mos.
The patient is scared and said that, discharge me then you have one bed open at least, then the doctor gets angry and goes on about how serious he is, but then leaves him for an hour and then suddenly takes with a bed to lay in the hallway to wait for X-rays for another hour, but his so serious.
Priorities your causality patients. We weren’t told anything until we threw a tantrum then suddenly, they wanted to tell us.
I get they are busy and have good doctors but our experience made me even more scared to go there for help, cause if they are so swamped then how do they want to help you.
How are they helping people when those rows for all departments of the hospital is full waiting to hopefully be next.
I have no idea what can be changed, but something needs to happen cause my husband anxiety was so high.
He felt worse leaving the hospital then when he came in and that says something.
Don’t be so rude just because you are overworked, it’s not our fault and you won’t have to fight if you just told and properly explained to patients what’s happening or what actually help. I talked to multiple people about worse experiences and worse situations. That made me see, there is a big issue that needs to address.
That’s why I’m writing this, not because I’m a Karen complaining but became these are people’s lives being affected and people losing trust in the medical field. I’m grateful for what they did do but there are things that just were not okay and they don’t understand that this might not change anything or help, but I thought people should just be aware.
