In Memory of a Namibian Hero

Mandy Rittmann
EUGENE GRIFFITHS WRITES:

Beneath the vast and endless sky,

Where golden sands and rivers lie,

A nation mourns, its heart now sore,

For you, dear Father, are no more.

You stood so tall, a beacon bright,

Through darkest days and longest nights.

With courage fierce, you led the way,

To break the chains, to seize the day.

Your voice, a thunder, shook the earth,

Proclaiming freedom, Namibia’s worth.

Through trials faced, you never swayed,

A legacy of strength you made.

The land you loved, now free and fair,

Bears witness to your steadfast care.

The winds that sweep across the plain,

Still whisper softly of your name.

Though tears may fall and hearts may ache,

Your spirit lives in every wake.

In every child, in every dream,

Your light endures, a timeless beam.

Rest now, dear Father, in peace profound,

Your work complete, your purpose crowned.

Namibia stands, your gift, your pride,

Forever grateful, you’re our guide.

So sleep beneath the stars above,

A nation’s heart forever yours to love.

Your name shall echo through the years,

A hero’s song, Through joy and tears.

Rest in power, our founding flame,

Namibia’s soul bears your name.
