Majority rule not a license to do as you please
CONCERNED CITIZEN WRITES:
May I seize this golden opportunity to agree with and attest to what Cde. President Geingob said during the official opening of the Congress of the Swapo Youth League in Ongwediwa on Wednesday, 17th August 2022. He said that the LPM leaders can’t even run a local authority, but they want to run the country.
The LPM leaders at Keetmanshoop Municipality convened a special meeting last week Thursday, 18th August 2022 just to interfere into administration of the town. They are abusing their powers to come away with anything.
Of late they promoted a lady into a position which didn’t exist or which was never advertised. She was the HR Coordinator and has been promoted to the position of HR Manager. It’s a story of being a referee and a player at the same time. All this after they have frozen all the vacancies, due to lack of funds.
Furthermore, to make things worse all LPM caucus meeting are being held at this lady's house. Was the decision to promote her equally taken at a meeting held at her house and just endorsed in the Council Chambers?
The fact that you are in majority doesn’t mean that you can contravene existing governing laws and administrative arrangements and procedures. This must be discontinued henceforth and the LPM leaders must desist from interfering into administrative arrangements and focus on legislative and policy frameworks for which they have been elected. The fact that you are in majority doesn’t give you mandate to take hogwash, silly and senseless decisions.
I think the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Hon. Erastus Uutoni should perhaps intervene before it’s too late, because it’s far-fetching now. The people are acting as if they are taking vengeance against certain actions and people.
