Open Letter

Mandy Rittmann
PEET VAN STADEN WRITES:

Dear Honourable Emma L. Theofelus,

I hope you are doing well.

I am writing this open letter to express my concerns about the approval of Starlink services in Namibia.

As an advocate for improved connectivity in our country, I believe access to affordable and reliable internet is vital for innovation, education, and economic growth.

Please confirm whether Starlink's approval is being considered. If not, I would greatly appreciate understanding the reasons behind this decision. Transparency ensures that Namibians are informed about the opportunities and challenges shaping our digital future.

I would also like to let you know about the petition I have started at https://starlink.peetvanstaden.com, where Namibian citizens have expressed their support for Starlink. I encourage you to review the comments on the homepage, as they highlight the pressing need for better internet access and the public’s sentiment on this matter.

Furthermore, it has come to my attention that Cran has indicated they cannot address this issue, stating that the Ministry is the sole entity capable of granting Starlink approval to operate in Namibia. Given this, I would like to ask:

* If discussions regarding Starlink are underway, could you provide an update or reveal the discussed points?

* Can the Ministry commit to involving the public by sharing what has been deliberated? Transparency in these discussions will help Namibian citizens understand the considerations being made.

I would appreciate your insights and stance on this matter. I look forward to your response and appreciate your time addressing this important issue.
