Racial prejudice? Man made!

Mandy Rittmann
SAPIENS WRITES:

We all belong to one race, the human race – Homo sapiens, species.

God created us in his image.

In Genesis, the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve.

The serpent in the apple tree of life, wisdom, and knowledge tempted Eve with the apple (fruit) to a shortcut, to knowledge-power! This led to the fall, the original sin, and expulsion from Eden.

Conflict ensued, and Cain killed Abel.

Mankind, as we know it, evolved in southern and East Africa and reached the corners of our planet over a million years ago. Mankind adapted to the environment and externally changed, white (caucasian).

Black (negroid) and yellow (mongoloid) underneath we are similar. There is no white, black, or yellow medical degree. There is only one for all.

We share this place (planet earth); we all belong, so let’s get along for the common good in the team spirit of Ubuntu/Harambee.

However, mankind is tempted by power rather than service. Politicians generate differences to divide and rule.

Race made it a us and them issue when the need is for compassionate service based on merit, pragmatism, and honesty.

In the post-apartheid era, white were regarded with suspicion. Why? In 1963, the first president of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama, was married to an English lady. Botswana did well.

In Namibia, Herman Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo, the founder of O.P.O married white; this did not make him less patriotic. He shared time with Nelson Mandela on Robben Island and experienced Namibian and South African liberation.

The speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Peter Katjavivi, married white and is making a great contribution to connecting people and ideas through debate.

We should share ideas and concepts through debate, challenge, beliefs, and dogma with evidence or facts and inspire change for the common good.

Why do some people question Dr. P. Ithula’s Namibian credentials because he married white while in exile in the UK?

Racial prejudice is the defense mechanism of the intellectually destitute. Follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King’s “dream” and that of Nelson Mandela, the ultimate “servant leader“.
