Thank you
EUNICE ANN VAN ZYL WRITES:
The very tragic Israeli-Hamas war started because of a terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel.
Now, sadly, it seems as if the Palestinian people are living under constant terror because of Israeli attacks.
As Christians, we feel compelled to side with Israel. We also feel the need to search the Holy Scriptures to get a better insight into the present situation. All I know is that the sadness this war is causing must end.
In the beginning of the Holy Bible, in the book of Genesis, we discover that Jews and Moslems are half-brothers. The same father, Abraham, and different mothers, Sarah and Hagar.
Sarah was Abraham’s wife, and Hagar was Sarah’s maid. When it came for God to make a covenant, He had to make it with Isaac because of the holiness of the marriage covenant.
Genesis 17:18–19 (New King James Version)
And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You.”
Then God said: No Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his descendants.
And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold I have blessed him, and I will make him a great nation.”
Where the hatred comes from, I do not know. Biblical scholars will know.
During the week after Easter, I saw the ending of a beautiful story on National Geographic Channel.
A snow leopard had been injured below the rocks in India. Some people had found him and took him to an animal hospital. It took two months to nurse him back to health.
I will forever remember the scene where he left the cage, and on the rocks, he turned to look at the people that brought him home as if to say thank you.
We also say thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for what you did for us on the cross. We love you.
