The J.E. visum to UK

Mandy Rittmann
HOMO SAPIENS WRITES:

Thanks to the vitriolic attacks on people that are “other”, honourable comrade Jerry Ekandjo, has succeeded in damaging Namibia’s international image. We are part of the Commonwealth, but now have to apply for a visa to enter the UK!

In our National Assembly, pride, prejudice, bigotry and revenge was whipped up against people who are “other”. Female members were ululating in approval like in a harem. Jerry was the real man!

We now are in the same “moral” boat as Uganda (Museveni). It will affect our tourism growth from Europe, the UK and the USA. People on holiday don’t want to be hassled by zealots.

We are all created in the image of God. Pope Francis said “who am I to judge?” Nobody who is “other”, was expelled from the Catholic church. In South Africa, Mandela and Tutu were tolerant to “other” in the constitution (Nobel peace prize winners).

Do we follow zealots, or are we humble, tolerant and forgiving toward the diversity of mankind?

What consenting adults do behind closed bedroom doors is private, as long as children under 18 are not abused.

Society has bigger problems, gender-based violence, absent fathers, neglected children, alcohol abuse, rape, unemployment and starvation!

The challenges at Namibia’s independence were identified as “ignorance, poverty and disease” by the founding father.

Let’s get realistic in context.
