Ongeluk op Husab

Swakop Uranium, die Chinese maatskappy wat Husab-uraanmyn besit, het bevestig dat daar Woensdag, 24 Julie, ’n ongeluk by die myn was.

Volgens Swakop Uranium se woordvoerder Winnie Mukupuki, het die voorval omstreeks 12:50 plaasgevind toe 'n vragmotor wat deur die mynkontrakteur Beifang besit en gebruik word, omgeslaan het terwyl die drywer besig was om 'n vrag af te laai. Die vragmotor het op bodem van die myn se voorraadhoop beland.

Husab se noodreaksiespan was vinnig op die toneel en die drywer is behandel voordat hy na 'n privaathospitaal in Swakopmund geneem is.

“Hy is tans onder waarneming maar hy is positief,” aldus Mukupuki.

Swakop Uranium se uitvoerende adjunkpresident, Irvinne Simataa, het bevestig dat Beifang se bedrywighede by die myn tydelik opgeskort is terwyl die ongeluk ondersoek word.

Alle ander bedrywighede is hervat nadat alle werknemers en betrokke owerhede van die voorval ingelig is.
