The search for the 2025 winners of the Namibian Scholars’ Investment Challenge (NSIC) is officially underway! Registration for this exciting competition opened on 17 March 2025

and will close on 11 April 2025.

Teams of 3 to 4 members from secondary schools (Grades 10-12) and Namibian university students are invited to sign up for the opportunity to showcase their investment acumen and compete for cash prizes. The first day of trading will begin on 14 April 2025 and will run until 24 October 2025, allowing participants a period of six months to simulate real-time stock market activity using a virtual portfolio.

Each participating team will receive N$500 000 in fictitious funds to trade shares on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX), with the aim of maximising returns by the end of the trading period.

University and secondary school students are encouraged to enter the 2025 NSIC to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the world of investment and financial markets. The competition introduces participants to the dynamics of capital markets, offering an exciting opportunity to develop investment skills and a deeper understanding of macroeconomics and investment strategies.

The competition will culminate in an awards ceremony where the winning teams will be recognised for their efforts and rewarded with a total of N$80,000, which will be shared between the top performers.

Tiaan Bazuin, CEO of the Namibia Securities Exchange, emphasized the NSX’s commitment to fostering financial literacy among the youth.

"The NSIC provides a unique platform for students to get involved in the stock market, bridging the gap between theory and practice in a way that is both fun and informative. We are proud to be part of this initiative that nurtures the next generation of financial leaders," Bazuin said.

RMB Namibia, Ian Erlank, Head of Global Markets at RMB Namibia, said it was an effort to aid financial literacy.
