Capricorn CIO honoured with financial tech award

Capricorn Group announced that one of its executives, Dr Etienne Slabbert, the Group’s Chief Information Officer, has been bestowed with the prestigious CIO of the Year 2023 award for his exceptional leadership, visionary mindset and relentless pursuit of excellence in the financial technology realm of Southern Africa.

The award was announced at the 19th edition of the Finnovex Southern Africa 2023 Awards, hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa on 25 July 2023. Finnovex creates thought leadership on cutting-edge issues and solutions, celebrating individuals and companies transforming the financial ecosystem and consistently demonstrating exemplary performance. The CIO of the Year 2023 award is based on the achievements of Dr Slabbert as assessed by the industry, the organisers and the panel that selected the winners. Finnovex commended Dr Slabbert on his inspirational leadership in the IT sector, “propelling the industry towards a future of unprecedented possibilities.”

The award exemplifies not only Dr Slabbert’s relentless pursuit of excellence in the information technology sector but also the vision of Capricorn Group’s leadership to foster a culture of innovation, pushing boundaries to achieve tangible results.
