Finance to press ahead with budget tabling
The finance ministry indicated that it intends to proceed with tabling the Appropriation Bill later this afternoon in the National Assembly. Finance Minister Ipumbu Shiimi (pictured) could not deliver the mid-term budget on Monday when a quorum could not be reached and again on Tuesday for the same reason.
Ministry spokesperson Wilson Shikoto said Shiimi would attempt again table the mid-term budget again later today.
"The minister will proceed with presenting the mid-year budget review in the National Assembly, assuming that a quorum is met. It is a constitutional requirement for the appropriation bill to be tabled in the National Assembly," Shikoto said.
