FlySafair touches down in Windhoek
Low-cost carrier FlySafair this week commenced scheduled services between Cape Town and Windhoek. This marks the first regional route for FlySafair, making cross-border travel between the two cities more accessible and affordable for customers.
“We are extremely excited to have this highly anticipated route operational before the summer holidays at the end of the year and offer our customers further opportunities to visit loved ones, explore the sights of Namibia and its capital, or enjoy a trip to Cape Town conveniently," said Kirby Gordon, chief marketing officer at FlySafair.
"It has been a long-time goal of ours to expand into the Windhoek market and with more aircraft availability in Cape Town, we have been able to make this a reality, enhancing connectivity between two popular destinations in southern Africa,” Gordon added.
Historically, flying between Cape Town and Windhoek has been a costly exercise, with airfares ranging between N$5 000 and N$9 000. FlySafair is now offering tickets from just N$2 000, providing a budget friendly option for travellers to see family and friends, pursue business interests in both cities or for students studying in Cape Town, for example, to fly home to Namibia. Tourists now have another affordable entry point from South Africa to enjoy Windhoek’s culture and hospitality or venture further to Namibia’s other unique natural attractions.
Safe and reliable
FlySafair's Cape Town to Windhoek flights will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, meeting a demand for increased travel on the route, which has yet to fully recover to pre-Covid 19 levels, currently sitting at 83% of previous passenger volumes. With FlySafair’s new route, there is significant potential to grow tourism and strengthen travel connections between Namibia and South Africa.
“By offering competitive fares on this expansion of our network, we are helping to boost the travel industry in the southern African region. This new route reinforces our commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable flights for everyone. Whether it is for leisure, business, or family reunions, we aim to make travelling in South Africa and beyond more accessible than ever,” said Gordon.
With a focus on affordable, reliable and safe travel, FlySafair, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has become known for its high operational standards and excellent customer service, regularly recognised as one of the world’s most on-time airlines.
The introduction of the Cape Town to Windhoek route adds to FlySafair’s other regional destinations, including Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
