Superior quality hardware, finishings and features can sometimes be hard to come by. Thankfully, there are specialist stores catering to the needs of discerning contractors and their high-class clientele.

Gelmar Namibia has, since its opening, brought a change to the sector, offering a one-stop source for the finest household products on the market.

The legend is now local

Gelmar Namibia is the brain child of a Scotsman from South Africa, Kim Davison. In 2019, he wanted to invest in Namibia and approached Junitha Soeth Richter of JS Hardware, and soon they became partners.

Upon seeing a gap for the well-established Gelmar franchise in Namibia, and he and Richter decided to open a branch here in 2020 to bring the best brands in the segment to the local market.

“With Gelmar’s more than 80 years of experience, you are guaranteed in dealing with a company that has an established reputation, the widest range of superior products and specialist knowledge of the latest developments in the market,” Japie Greyvenstein, Gelmar manager, said.

“We have friendly and helpful staff members who can offer advice on every item and give their best at all times so that customers can select the best products from the various categories of bedroom, bathroom and kitchen products right through from hinges, sinks, tools, castors and everything in between,” he added.

“We also boast a huge range of Franke products like, kitchen sinks, mixers, bathroom mixers and fittings as well as commercial products like bathroom and kitchen fittings, sinks and mixers for hotels, shopping malls, schools as well as a huge selection of mortuary equipment.”

“Gelmar also stocks silicones, glues and wood fillers from brands like Alcolin, Brummer, Den Braven as well as Marshall Spray Paints. Gelmar is now also a distributor of Yale padlocks, locks and door handles.”

“Our Gelmar in-house brands like sliding and barn door systems, kitchen cupboard inserts and fittings as well as a huge range of cupboard handles have become very popular and we hope to reach more customers, so that they too can enjoy these stylish, quality products."

Always evolving

With constant development in the home improvement space, the need to be on top of new trends and technologies is paramount.

“Bringing the latest innovations to our customers is very important to us. That’s why we bring between 10 to 20 new products in every week, so that our clientele - whether you’re a homemaker, contractor, joiner, upholsterer or simply an enthusiast in the home improvement space - has access to the finest products on the market,” Greyvenstein explained.

Similarly, cost is always a factor to consider, and that’s why Gelmar team works hard to cater for every segment of the market, without compromising on quality.

“Home renovations can be costly, but Gelmar actively drives prices down to give you the best value for money.

“We have introduced our own competitive product range, keeping the costs low and yet maintaining the highest standards of quality and style,” he said.

Gelmar has hundreds of handles to choose from as well as the most stylish door sets; kitchen, bathroom and bedroom fittings; hinges; drawer systems; connecting fittings; fasteners; office fittings; locking systems; upholstery consumables; legs and castors; tools and so much more that only a visit to the showroom in Parsons Street on the Weylands premises can satisfy.

“We at Gelmar proud ourselves on being passionate about service and supplying new and exciting

products on a weekly basis. So come visit us and see why our motto is ‘simplifying life’,” Greyvenstein added.
