Pupkewitz Honda launches all-new HR-V
Raising the bar in the compact SUV segment
The sleek new HR-V is a vision of Honda's innovative technology and aesthetic.
Since its introduction in 1999, the Honda HR-V has absolutely lived up to its moniker 'Hi-Rider Revolutionary Vehicle', or - as it was originally released in Japan - the 'Joy Machine'.
Since then, families and fleets across the world have enjoyed its comfort, comprehensive specifications and economical running costs, and have helped it become among Honda’s most popular vehicles - which is a major feat given the brand’s extensive and very well-received product range.
With a shift in global motoring trends moving toward a more futuristic aesthetic, the HR-V has undergone a radical transformation and the results are striking.
The latest generation HR-V, which was recently unveiled to an awestruck crowd at Pupkewitz Honda, looks, feels and drives like forward-thinking concept vehicle.
Juiced-up joy machine
The all-new Honda HR-V was developed with the grand concept of “amp up your life”, offering customers exceptional styling and premium feel yet maintaining the practical approach of the HR-V as an everyday companion.
The new HR-V offers greater leg and shoulder room. Rear leg room has increased by 35 mm and there is an additional two-degree recline compared to the previous generation. This is due to Honda’s revised centre tank layout and clever packaging of powertrain components.
The well-known centre-tank configuration also allows Honda to retain the exceptionally versatile rear magic seat set-up that offers both fold-flat or flip-up seat flexibility, depending on load space required.
Designed to be desired
Honda developed the HR-V not only as an all-new compact SUV, but as a consumer product that appeals through desirability, functionality and usability. The HR-V not only delivers on style and performance but is designed to integrate into various lifestyles and fulfil individual customer requirements.
Honda’s engineers analysed every detail of the HR-V driving experience to maximise driver enjoyment and comfort. Compared to its predecessor, the all-new HR-V has a more rigid body structure and benefits from extensive suspension, steering and braking enhancements so that it responds more precisely to driver inputs, delivering a more confident and comfortable driving experience.
The brand-new infotainment system comes standard across the model range and gives users full functionality of a smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth is included and can be controlled via remote controls on the steering wheel.
Performance and peace of mind
The all-new HR-V features a suite of premium active and passive safety technologies designed to make driving easier and safer.
It incorporates Honda's proprietary advanced compatibility engineering™ (ACE™) body structure technology that forms the foundation for excellent passive safety performance, enhancing occupant crash protection. A network of connected structural elements distributes crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle, reducing the forces transferred to the passenger compartment. The HR-V features front, side and curtain SRS airbags. The Executive offers six SRS airbags, while the Comfort derivative offers four.
Other features include: Panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pads, rear USB charging points, 17” and 18” alloy wheels and an electric boot.
The new HR-V is equipped with Honda’s 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, generating a power output of 89kW @ 6 600rpm and torque of 145Nm @ 4 300rpm. This new 1.5-litre powertrain is powerful and efficient with a fuel consumption figure of just six litres per 100 km and a CO2 emission figure of 144 g/km.
The Honda HR-V comes in two engine derivatives:
• Entry-level Comfort priced at N$469 000
• The Executive model priced at N$554 500
All models come standard with a five-year/200 000 km warranty, and a four-year/60 000 km service plan backed by Pupkewitz Honda.
“Honda is not only driven by top quality but by many decades of legacy. We at Pupkewitz Motors back this legacy by a fully-fledged sales and aftersales department,” Bianca Weakley, the dealer principal at Pupkewitz Honda, said.
“If your Honda is three to five years old and has between 60 000 to 100 000 km, please call us 061 381 600 and let us offer you a trade in price and get you into a new Honda,” she added.
