All hail Miss Epako
Recently, we witnessed the most fascinating event any school could have. On 20 May, Epako High School held a modelling competition titled
Miss Epako 2024. The competition look place at the Epako community hall from 16:00 to midnight.
This competition was unforgettable. The participants were from various grades, from different ages and from all cultures. The competition was aimed at boosting the confidence of the contestants, to know how capable they will be and to see whether they would be able to take part in any other competitions in the future. It could maybe prepare them for future Miss Namibia competitions too.
We witnessed contestants in different outfits and, for sure, they looked stunning. The way they walked showed a lot of confidence.
Another part that was fascinating was when the judges asked questions. Not only did the contestants have to show their confidence in the way they walked and in their bright smiles, but most confidence came from the way they answered their questions.
This questions were not only for fun, but it was a way of educating the audience and specifically the learners on various topics like teenage pregnancy.
The night was not just filled with modelling - we got to see dance groups like Sush Family, Gucci Kings as well as the X-Pentmanz spice up the event. We also had Harmony, a learner from the school, rap for us. This was just a way of showing that if you have a talent, you should show it off. Don't keep it to yourself; you can actually get something good out of it.
The most exiting part was when Cherise Kambari was announced as Miss Epako 2024! The first runner-up was Ndeshihafela, while Yekuminina Mukuahima was crowned as second runner-up. At the end of day, the learners had fun and learnt to always go for what they want.
