Mr and Miss PK take it to Egypt

Deodine Meyer
Oh, what an event this Mr and Miss PK pageant was! The pageant is a highly anticipated competition that brings together learners from different grades to showcase their confidence, intelligence and poise. Learners spent weeks preparing for the event, honing their skills in various categories, donning Egyptian wear, swimming wear, evening wear and most importantly, preparing for the all-important question and answer session to make it to the top 5. Participants were judged on their ability to perform under pressure, their stage presence and their overall presentation. The event began with a dazzling opening, with the contestants performing a choreographed dance routine. Next were the costumes based on the Egyptian theme and where they introduced themselves. The swimwear category followed, where they strutted their stuff on stage. In the evening wear segment, contestants took to the runway in their finest attire, exuding confidence and elegance, while in the interview segment, the contestants answered questions about their aspirations and views on pressing social issues.

Fierce competition

One of the many highlights of the evening was the highly anticipated performance by the one and only Gazza, who took to the stage to show why he is so beloved by many for his music, dance moves, lyricism and lastly, but most importantly, his love for his fans!

The competition was fierce, but in the end, Richardene Bezuidenhout and Reaubon Beukes took the titles of Miss and Mr PK respectively, thanks to their powerful vocal performances and answers during the interview segment.

The pageant is more than just a beauty contest: It tests public speaking skills and gives participants the chance to express their creativity. It also creates a sense of community and school spirit as students come together to support their peers.

As the event concluded, the excitement and joy were overflowing, with students already looking forward to next year's event.

The competition continues to be a highlight on the school calendar, celebrating the students' diverse talents and achievements.
