On Friday, the My Zone team will host their annual Career VX at the University of Namibia (Unam) main campus.

Themed ‘Meet the Unsung Heroes of the Workforce’, over 200 learners have been invited to participate, with a number of exhibitors and guest speakers ready to engage with them.

The keynote speaker for the VX is Unam’s Student Representative Council (SRC) president, Twapewa-Ashihe Mungoba.

Also on the programme are Unam career guidance counsellor Angela //Naobes, as well as the deputy executive director of the education ministry, Edda Bohn.

The Career VX event complements the Career Focus Guide, which was published on 3 September.

Both the publication and event are aimed at helping learners experience a smoother transition from high school to life after school.

“Events such as Career VX are important because it also debunks a lot of stereotypes regarding careers in fields such as agriculture,” said Owen van Rooi, who was profiled in the agriculture section of the Career Focus Guide.

The event offers opportunities for learners to explore various industries and career paths.

Included in the Career VX programmes, learners can listen to professionals shed light on their careers within various industries, including agriculture, medical, science, business and finance, sports and fitness, informal, tourism and hospitality, artisan, arts and social sciences, among others.

This event is sure to equip learners with the knowledge and better understanding of the workforce.
