Nothing but pretty vibes with Ms Gideon
Young, talented and filled with a passion for music, Panduleni Gideon is on the rise with her new song with Yeezir titled "Pretty Vibes."
The song is a smash hit across the nation and has fans in a "chokehold."
With a following of 115 000 on Instagram and 28 800 followers on TikTok, the young artist is becoming more popular by the day.
Gideon has been passionate about music for a long time. She began singing at the age of nine, with her family capturing her dancing and singing moments from an early age.
The rising artist says that she was influenced by her mom, remembering Sunday mornings when she would listen to church songs.
Message in a song
Gideon remains humble and down to earth, trying not to focus too much on her newly-found fame.
When asked about "Pretty Vibes", she said she wrote the song to spread positivity and to promote freedom of expression. She wrote the song, "taking into consideration the kind of world we live in currently, where people are afraid to express emotions because of what society would say."
She said the song can also be seen as a love song to be played for a significant other.
The young artist has not always been so confident about her music. Initially, she was afraid that people were not going to like her music or voice.
Fortunately, she overcame that fear and has now become one of Namibia’s most adored young artists.
Future plans
When asked about her future, the musician emphasised that she does not want to think too far ahead and is taking things one step at a time.
Music is not the only thing the singer wants to focus on; there are also other areas in her life that she is paying attention to.
Considering the Namibian population and the economic conditions, she explained: "I believe I need to have other sources of income because one cannot rely on music in a developing country like Namibia. We still have a lot of growing to do as a nation."
Talent is key
Gideon is hopeful for the future and the Namibian music industry as a whole and insists on changing the stereotype around women that, in order to be successful, they have to receive favours from the men in the industry.
The young artist believes that talent is what matters and it should be enough to have a successful career. Through this, the artist has complete belief in herself.
When asked about future collaborations, she said: "I’m not going to mention any names at the moment. All I can say is that the future looks bright. So, stay tuned."
She said her actions will speak for themselves.
There is possibly a new single on the way, and she aims to at least have it finished by the end of the year.
The singer hopes that her hard work will pay off.
Advice
The young talent added that it is important to have a go-getter mentality and to stand up and actually do something about one’s dreams.
She believes in paving her own way to success. Gideon advises that one should always be their true selves as it all starts there.
She chooses to ignore negativity.
"I always think of it as somebody trying to project their own insecurities onto others. As for me? I’m very blind to negativity. I choose not to see it. It’s my eyesight, I choose my vision."
She urged Namibians to avoid negativity and spread "Pretty Vibes" only.
