Planting seeds of faith

Rochelle Van Wyk
The love and generosity of a woman who was once a learner at Noordgrens Secondary School, life skills teacher Merijam Hamutenya, has led her to dig deep and plant seeds of faith in the learners of the school.

She started her project in hopes that it would inspire and fulfill her dream of making Noordgrens a paradise again.

She has started planting different types of fruit trees all around the school and with the help of the learners, she makes sure the plants are looked after and watered every day.

She said: “I want to make Noordgrens a paradise that can look after the future generations of the school".

Some of her goals are to turn the school green again and to start a vegetable garden before the end of the year.

She would love to motivate the learners and inspire them with what she does and hopes the learners will be the best versions of themselves while also thinking of others.
