In May 2004, Sharon Vries was employed as a relief worker for four months at Sanlam and later received a permanent appointment as a branch consultant assistant in January 2005. She was recently promoted to the position of niche consultant at the company.

She says her passion for the insurance industry motivates her and allows her to deliver work to her highest potential. As a consultant, she is responsible for supporting the structure of the existing policy administration for brokers and advisers at Sanlam.

Vries considers her position to be rewarding and takes pride in her accomplishments, with highlights of her career being her selection as the best administrator in 2020 and her recent promotion.

A day at work for Vries includes admin duties, which she says are essential, such as capturing new debit orders, cancelling debit orders, refunds, and maturity claims.

While she dreads the thought of not being able to afford her wants and needs, she stays determined to help those around her. She says if she were given a chance, the one thing she wishes to change in the community is to reduce poverty and inequality.

Vries is focused on self-development. She works equally hard to be the best for herself and her family.

"I strive to be a God-fearing woman, a Proverbs 31 wife, and to be unequivocally happy beyond reason. I want a healthy lifestyle and a happy home. I want to see my children grow up to be responsible adults and be a loving grandmother to my grandchildren. Last but not least, I would like to travel and see the world with my husband," she said.
