Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) recently entrusted Johannes Albertus Geldenhuys as its new sales executive coordinator. “As NMH’s sales executive co-coordinator, I maintain current sales while growing our client database by recruiting new business daily."He said he has been in his comfort zone since being appointed to the sales and marketing department. “This is all I have ever known and something that I very much feel I have a lot of experience in. I am prepared to share my knowledge with my team. NMH is a new challenge as I have never had much experience in the media trade. I am loving every moment and every challenge experienced thus far."BackgroundThe 38-year-old Geldenhuys was born in Krugersdorp, South Africa. He grew up in Empangeni of KwaZulu Natal where he attended Grantham Park Primary School until 1997. Thereafter, he went to Empangeni High School for four years, matriculating in 2002. When asked about his role model, he said he owes it all to his father who was an exceptional marketer and salesman. It was his dad who showed him the ropes and groomed him to be successful in the marketing world. “My father has always been my role model throughout my life. He mentored me and taught me everything I know. I am the man I am today all thanks to him.”Geldenhuys was self-employed until he joined NMH. He owns a sports pub named Benchwarmers Sports Pub & Pizza. He opened the pub after deciding to dedicate his time to his passion - sports. He enjoys playing cricket, pool, golf and going fishing.Risks, challenges, gratitudeHe urged the youth to never be afraid to take a leap of faith and follow their dreams. “Even if it ends up not working out at first or altogether, you will walk away with experience. And valuable life lessons can only be taught from having experienced that predicament.”Geldenhuys said running his own business has been a challenge. “There are so many ins and outs a person never thinks about until they experience them first-hand.”He spends his days planning work and lives every day with gratitude and kindness. He describes himself as an honest, fun, very social, hardworking and a people person. He urged people to show gratitude more for the opportunities life sends their way. “Family and friends are the most important things to be grateful for. Tomorrow might be too late," he said.
