Cloy Multimedia Studio is a photography and videography venture founded by a group of young creatives who turned their dream into a reality.

Established in November 2018 by partners Tjiharo Ngutjinazo, Michael Alfons and Jason Negonga, the studio operates as a mobile business without a physical location for now.

The trio offers a range of services, including studio photo shoots, wedding coverage, and music video production.

To date, they’ve completed more than 400 photography projects.

When asked what it means to be a young business owner, Jason Negonga highlighted the importance of financial independence.

“It means being self-employed and jumping out of the rat race of the traditional way of getting a job and working nine-to-five," he said.

"It also means being financially free and following my passion, which is being a creative."

Negonga also spoke about the challenges they face, including demanding workloads, tight client deadlines, inconsistent income, and the high cost of camera equipment. He added that ordering gear from abroad often adds complications, including steep customs duties.

Big dreams

He noted that their goal is to eventually open a dedicated studio space.

“This will give us greater control over our workspace and allow us to create a more conducive environment for creativity and collaboration,” Negonga said.

He also said they share a vision of evolving the business into a full-fledged creative agency that mentors up-and-coming talent – a way, he said, to give back to the community and help nurture the next generation of creatives.

“By achieving these goals, we hope to make a lasting impact and inspire others in our field,” Negonga concluded.

“You can be grinding for five years straight, and on the sixth year, you can be on a different trajectory” serves as a mantra to success.
